The Interpretation of Prophecy

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

Don’t be deceived by speculations about the future.

1. The Source of Alarm (2 Thessalonians 2:1-2)
2. The Signs of the Day of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 2:3-7)
   • The apostasia must take place
   • The man of lawlessness must be revealed
   • The restrainer must be taken out of the way
3. The Suppression of Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
4. The Sentence of the Unrighteous (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

Tools for Interpreting Prophecy:

1. When plain sense makes good sense, seek no other sense.
2. Strive to find the author’s intent:
   a. Consider the audience
   b. Observe the theme(s) of the book
   c. Context. Context. Context.
3. Numbers are not a secret code to crack
