What is Love?

What is Love?

What is love?  We see it all around us.  Candy companies, florists, and marketers would have us believe that love somehow involves material things.

Paul Tripp gives a good biblical definition for love: “Love is willing self-sacrifice for the good of another that does not require reciprocation or that the person being loved is deserving of it.”

Where does love come from? Love flows from God. He created love as a good gift to us so that we can have a relationship with Him.

What does love look like? We see the answer in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Put your name in there. Am I patient? Kind? Quick to forgive?
